Motor Vixens is filmed entirely in Black & White film. However, the cameras we (SyMobius) use to cover the production are shooting color. So after attending a shoot, we have nothing but full color images; some of which are very cool.

So here they are…

Rule #487: If you name a character “heels,” her heels will break in the middle of production.

For example: During the filming of Star Wars, it is rumored that the death star they were using “blowd ups – fa shizzle.”  This forced Lucas to write the explosion into the film.  In the original version of the script, they leave the death star, and the film ends in a dance number. (might not be true)

First, we (me) left our tripods in the car.  Back in Denver.  Like 5 hours away.  Yes.

So when the time came for us to whip out our magical 20D for the timelapse footage, we had no viable solution to keeping the camera steady.  Eventually, we had to borrow a tripod that the film crew weren’t using.  But as luck would have it, the tripod in question was missing the mount plate.

So what did we jackasses from SyMobius do?  Tape the sh#t out of it, of course.

Even though we had strong winds blowing across the set the whole time, the camera remained grounded, and steady.  This allowed us to run around with the 5D mk II and the D40 for the duration of the shoot, while the 20D snapped away the timelapse photos.

Happy story.  We like this one.

While we do plan on having individual releases of the images and videos in the future, we thought that it would be super cool to do a “making of the making of” parody doc.

It is entirely in our point-of-view, and as you can soon see, it was super fun to be part of the experience.

Before we left for the shoot, Horsey (pic above) begged me to let him come.   I wasn’t sure if Mike (the director) would be cool with a horse hanging out in the trailer, so I first said, “no.”

But Horsey was determined to come to the shoot, and he hid in my luggage for the trip.

Long story short, I forgave him, because he obviously has trouble getting around.  I mean…  He has no legs.

So after making up, we had a good time together at the shoot.  Even took some pics of Horsey for his scrapbook.

There is a scene in the film that involves some delicious kicks to the face.  Here, you can see Sherrilynn kick Joe with 110% accuracy.  It is filled with anger, fury, and one’s determination to end the other.

But obviously, this is a film, and while it looks pretty convincing, no rock-a-billy singers were harmed in this production.

We made it home safe and sound, although a little burned, from the Motor Vixens shoot and are still absorbing how awesome the experience was. The people were great, the pictures are beautiful and the movie is going to be amazing! After being in a world of Vixens and hot-rods our leaving was a little bittersweet but we can’t wait to see everything come together when the film is released. Thank you to the cast and crew for a weekend we will never forget.

Being on set is a good way to see some great looking cars. Every moment is a chance to capture some amazing shots. Lots of calendar-esque images. It’s so much fun!

It’s a brand new day! Due to us arriving late yesterday, we now have more scenes to do than originally planned.

It will be a packed day, but that also means it will be packed with great photo-ops.

Can’t wait get this started!

First day of shooting is a wrap! It was action packed with unpredictables.

First, the road we were shooting at had many locals driving through our set. Apparently, when Mike did the location scouting, the road was pretty deserted. But today, we counted around 20 drive-bys, forcing the crew to pause each time.

Second, there were cattle making noises near-by. They seem to get louder as more silence was needed for the scenes.

All this was going on while the mountain near by was on FIRE. Just incredible.

But even with all these distractions, Mike and the crew did a super job with everything. It was a long day, but a rewarding one.

It was a lot of fun to be part of this. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Right now, we’re grabbing some grub at the Hunan, a Chinese restaurant. It is the only place that’s open here at 8:00pm on a Sunday.
